Roofing Contractor in Davenport & the Quad Cities
For more than forty-five years, Peterson Roofing has been putting roofs on homes and businesses across the Quad Cities. We are family-owned — started by Jody Peterson in the 1980s and run today by Jody and his son Ryan — and we have built the business on a simple principle: no surprises. You get an honest assessment, a clear price, and work done properly. You pay nothing until it is finished.
Whether you need a full replacement, a repair after a storm, or an inspection because you are not sure what you are looking at, we will tell you straight what your roof needs.
Our roofing services
Roof replacement
A complete tear-off and rebuild. We strip the old roof down to the deck, inspect and replace any damaged sheathing, and install a full new system — underlayment, ice and water shield in the vulnerable areas, flashing, shingles and ventilation. Doing it this way means we see exactly what condition the structure is in rather than covering it over.

Built for Quad Cities weather
A roof here works harder than the national averages assume. Winter brings the full freeze-thaw cycle — meltwater running down the roof, refreezing at the cold eaves, and backing up under the shingles as ice dams. Spring and summer bring hail and straight-line winds. Summer heat then bakes whatever the winter left behind.
That combination is why we install ice and water shield along the eaves and in the valleys rather than treating it as optional, and why we pay close attention to attic ventilation. A poorly ventilated attic cooks shingles from underneath and can take years off an otherwise sound roof.
It is also why we recommend Class 4 impact-resistant shingles to most homeowners here. Class 4 is the highest impact rating a shingle can earn — tested by dropping a two-inch steel ball from twenty feet and confirming the mat does not crack. In a hail-prone area that matters on its own, and many insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof. It is worth asking yours before you choose.

Choosing your roofing material
Most homes here end up on architectural asphalt shingles, and for good reason — they balance cost, appearance and lifespan better than anything else on the market. But it is worth understanding the options before you decide.
| Material | Typical Life | Best For | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three-tab asphalt | 15–20 years | Tight budgets, rental property | Shortest life, least wind resistance |
| Architectural asphalt | 25–30 years | Most Quad Cities homes | Costs more than three-tab up front |
| Class 4 impact-resistant | 25–30 years | Hail-prone locations | Higher cost, often offset by insurance discount |
| Stone-coated steel | 40+ years | Long-term ownership | Highest up-front cost |
We install products from Owens Corning, GAF, CertainTeed, Malarkey, IKO, Atlas and Decra, with VELUX skylights and Lomanco ventilation. If you want to see what a color will actually look like on your house before committing, use the Owens Corning visualizer on this page — it is a lot more useful than a swatch.
Storm damage and insurance claims
If you have had hail or high wind, get the roof looked at even if nothing is leaking. Impact damage knocks the protective granules off the shingle and exposes the mat underneath. The roof keeps working for a while and then fails early — often after the window for filing a claim has closed.
We inspect free, photograph what we find, and give you a written report to file with your insurer. If an adjuster comes out, we will meet them on the roof so the damage gets assessed properly and nothing is overlooked. We are not your claims representative and we do not negotiate the settlement for you — that is between you and your insurer — but we make sure the evidence is complete and we know how to talk to an adjuster.
What it costs, and how you pay
Roofing prices depend on the size and pitch of the roof, how complicated the layout is, the material you choose, and what we find under the old shingles. Anyone quoting you a firm price without getting on the roof is guessing.
What we can tell you is how the money works. Inspections and estimates are free. There is no down payment — nothing up front, nothing for materials. You pay when the job is finished and you are happy with it. After forty-five years in this community we would rather earn it than hold it.
